Trek Bicycle company was born in 1976 – producing solely steel touring bikes out of a big, red barn in Wisconsin. Throughout the 1980s, Trek moved from making touring bikes onto producing road race bikes along with being one of the first bike companies to produce a mountain bike. Production moved from steel to aluminium and, for some bikes, carbon fibre was slowly introduced to the range. Trek really came into their own during the 1990s – OCLV carbon fibre was created to make their bikes some of the lightest available at the time. Lance Armstrong was also signed onto the brand – and we all know how that went!
Into the present and Trek are still producing top-end products, as well as bikes for kids and those who just want the freedom to get about. New technology will always be at the forefront of every Trek range – Active Braking Pivots, R1i Suspension, internal bearing races – it all adds up to produce a bike that'll get you where you want, how you want.
