Alpine Bikes Maintenance Clinics • Alpine Bikes:

Every time you ride your bike it gets subjected to a variety of stresses and strains not to mention exposure to the elements. Cleaning, checking and maintaining your bike regularly will help your bike perform better, last longer and you’ll save money in the long run. To avoid expensive repairs or prevent costly breakdowns a bit of basic knowledge goes a long way. With a little training and guidance you can learn how to locate and deal with many everyday issues and keep your bike running smoothly.

So how do you get this training? The best way to learn these skills is by getting yourself a place on one of our hands-on Maintenance Clinics based in your local Alpine Bikes store. At these accessible and friendly evening classes you’ll be shown the basics by one of our experienced mechanics and then get to practise on your own bike using the right tools. The three main areas we will cover are:

Puncture repair | Mon 9th June, 7pm

  • Knowing how to repair a puncture is one of the most useful things you can learn. There’s nothing worse than having your ride cut short by a flat tyre. Learn what you should carry with you and how to get yourself back on the road as fast as possible. Tips, tricks and essential knowledge will be passed on by someone who has done this more times than you could imagine!

Brake maintenance | Mon 16th June, 7pm

  • Failing brakes are extremely dangerous and there are many possibilities that could cause this problem. So make sure your brakes are in good working order by following a simple check over of your bike. Learn how replace the brake blocks, adjust the cables and set your brakes up for maximum performance.

Gear/drivetrain maintenance | Mon 23rd June, 7pm

  • Keeping your drive train clean and well maintained helps prolong parts and saves you money in the long-run. Using your bike grinds salt, dirt and oil into your chain, chain-rings and cassette – without proper care and attention this will severely affect the performance of your bike.

Our clinics are open to all and even experienced cyclists can benefit. We’ll also be running a women only clinic – identical to our standard course but for women only (but sometimes the mechanic will be male).

Duration: Sessions last around an hour and a half

Cost: £45 for 3 sessions (with free maintenance book worth £22)

Women only course

  • Course content will be exactly the same as above but for women only. Learn new skills in a relaxed and friendly environment with fellow female riders. Please note that although only women are allowed to attend this course your mechanic may be male.
  • Wednesday 11th June, 7pm
  • Wednesday 18th June, 7pm
